Who issues a building permit for stucco work in Kanab?
Kanab City has its own Building Department, so a property inside city limits goes through the city, not Kane County. Applications are submitted online through the cityinspect system and you need to create an account first. The city says review starts once a complete application is in hand and can take up to 14 business days, and fees have to be paid within 30 days or the permit closes. The office is at 26 North 100 East. Property outside city limits falls to the Kane County Building Department instead.
Can stucco go on in Kanab in November?
Sometimes, but it depends on the week rather than the month. Cement stucco needs to stay above freezing while it cures, which is a matter of days, not hours. In practice that means a shorter warm-weather stucco season, more freeze-thaw cycling through the wall assembly each winter, and a real need to keep water out of the system rather than trusting it to dry out.
