Surface temperature gets checked, not guessed. On stucco we use masonry-appropriate primers and breathable acrylic topcoats so moisture can leave the wall, and we hold to flat or low sheen on large stucco fields because gloss telegraphs every trowel variation in raking desert light. Through monsoon weeks we watch the radar and stop early rather than lose a wall to a storm. In Kayenta, the color goes to the ACC first.

How fast does exterior paint really fade in Ivins?
It depends far more on which wall than on which brand. North elevations here hold color for a long time. South and west elevations take direct sun for most of the day, nearly every day, and that is where you will see the difference first, usually as loss of depth in the color rather than obvious peeling. Deep and highly saturated colors show it soonest because the pigments that make them are the least UV stable. Can I repaint my Kayenta house any color I like?

There is a list of exterior plaster colors that are automatically approved, plus specific rules elsewhere in the handbook: garage doors must be two or more shades darker than the house, exterior window trim must be dark, and all accent colors and materials together are capped at twenty percent of the dwelling surface.
What is the hottest wall temperature you will paint at in Ivins?
We go by the coating manufacturer's stated maximum surface temperature and we measure it rather than eyeball it, because a sunlit stucco wall runs far hotter than the air. Past that limit the paint sets before it levels, so you get lap marks, poor flow, and film that never bonds properly to the substrate. That is why we chase shade around the house through the day. Waiting three hours for a wall to come down in temperature is cheaper than stripping and redoing an elevation next year.
Should I repaint my stucco or have it re-colored in Ivins?
