Watch the width and the pattern rather than the count: hairlines that stay hairlines are cosmetic, while cracks that widen, run diagonally off openings, or leak water deserve a professional look.
Will a stucco patch be visible after the repair?
A patch is visible when the texture or the color misses, and both take skill to match. We re-float the texture to blend into the surrounding wall and then fog coat or paint to unify the color. On older, sun-faded walls, a full-wall fog coat or repaint after the repair is the honest way to make it disappear completely.
What causes stucco to crack around windows and doors?
Openings concentrate stress: the wall wants to move, and the corner of a window is where it tears. Sometimes the cause is normal settling, sometimes it is missing corner reinforcement or a control joint that should have been there. The repair has to address the cause, otherwise the same crack returns through the new patch.
